出自《后汉书·朱浮传》，使亲朋好友痛心、反对，使仇人感到高兴。亲：亲人朋友。仇：敌人。
From the Book of the Later Han Dynasty’s biography of Zhu Fu. It means taking actions that cause pain and opposition from one’s family and friends, while making one’s enemies happy.
东汉初期，汉光武帝封赏群臣时，落下了曾立过大功的渔阳太守彭宠，导致彭宠气愤不已。当彭宠的上司幽州牧朱浮向渔阳征收钱粮时，彭宠认为自己实力很强，加上没有得到光武帝的封赏，心中愤恨不平，他就拒绝了朱浮，并对朱浮讲了很多难听的话。
In the early Eastern Han Dynasty, when Emperor Guangwu was bestowing rewards on his ministers, he overlooked Peng Chong, the greatly accomplished governor of Yuyang. This enraged Peng Chong. Later, when Peng Chong’s superior Zhu Fu, the regional governor of Youzhou, came to collect taxes from Yuyang, Peng Chong felt very powerful but also resentful for not receiving rewards from Guangwu. He refused Zhu Fu’s demands and insulted him severely.
朱浮很快就上奏光武帝，称彭宠对朝廷不满，已经起了反心。光武帝不清楚到底有没有这样的事，就想了一个主意，把彭宠叫到京城亲自问他。彭宠担心光武帝会对自己下毒手，就听从妻子的建议，不但没有进京面圣，反而还发兵攻打朱浮。
Zhu Fu soon memorialized to Emperor Guangwu that Peng Chong was resentful towards the imperial court and harbored rebellious intentions. Not knowing the full story, Guangwu summoned Peng Chong to the capital to question him in person. Fearing Guangwu might punish him, Peng Chong listened to his wife’s advice and not only refused to go to the capital, but even raised troops to attack Zhu Fu.
朱浮给彭宠写了一封信，劝说彭宠要忠于朝廷，不要做让亲人感到痛苦，让敌人感到高兴的事情。彭宠不听，仍然一意孤行，最后落得个家破人亡的结局。
Zhu Fu wrote a letter urging Peng Chong to remain loyal and not take actions that would grieve his loved ones but delight his enemies. But Peng Chong was obstinate. In the end, he met a disastrous fate with his family destroyed.
